Policy development on a global scale is a challenge, requiring dexterity and experience to aggregate myriad views on complicated international policy issues. Over the last several years, various business organizations have attempted to communicate views to G8 and G20 leaders.  As a long-standing and trusted interlocutor for business interests with a history of authoritative involvement in international policy work, ICC regularly provides global business views into the G8 and G20 processes (since 1990).

Likewise, as ICC's anti-counterfeiting and piracy arm, BASCAP has called on the leaders of the G8 and G20 in advance of their annual Meetings to make counterfeiting and piracy, and protection of IP rights, a higher priority for their governments. This direct intervention has resulted in official statements on the importance of protecting intellectual property and we continue to press the leaders to turn these Declarations into action.
