August 2010  The ICC International Court of Arbitration was one of the co-organisers of a recent forum in Shanghai aimed at showcasing Hong Kong legal services in mainland China. Entitled “Hong Kong Legal Services – Global Vision”, the event attracted almost 500 local lawyers and business professionals and was the largest event of its kind ever to be organized in mainland China.

ICC roadshows in mainland China
August 2010  In early July, ICC staged three roadshows in mainland China as part of its promotion of ICC Dispute Resolution Services in the Asia-Pacific region. Close to 300 lawyers, dispute resolution practitioners, academics and students attended these first ever events of their kind, held in Shanghai, Beijing and Shenzhen between 5 and 8 July 2010.

Seoul, 16 July 2010   Addressing a plenary session of Asia 21, the Korea Ministry of Finance/International Monetary Fund (IMF) conference in Seoul this week, ICC Honorary Chairman Victor Fung told the audience that “Asia can help lead the global recovery from crisis, but countries must avoid the temptation of protectionism. Although the signs are encouraging, the road back to recovery will be longer than we think.”

Paris, 15 July 2010   While Somali pirates demonstrated increased range and capabilities, there has been a relative decline in pirate attacks worldwide for the first two quarters of 2010, according to a report issued today by the ICC’s International Maritime Bureau (IMB).

Too soon to withdraw support, trade finance experts conclude
Paris, 27 May 2010  Despite improvements over the last year, trade finance markets remain fragile and it would be premature to wind down official support, at least for the immediate future according to the Expert Group on Trade Finance who met in Geneva last week under the chairmanship of World Trade Organization Director-General Pascal Lamy.

ICC announces revision of arbitration costs
April 2010  The scales used to calculate administrative expenses and arbitrators’ fees in ICC arbitration cases will be amended from 1 May 2010. Calculations will continue to be based on the amount in dispute but will be subject to new percentages and a finer breakdown at the higher end of the scale. An advance payment of US$ 3,000 will be required when filing a request for arbitration.
