ICC training on international commercial arbitration

Drawing upon the experience of renowned arbitrators in a multicultural and international environment, the global business organization will organize a PIDA training on international commercial arbitration that will study a mock case under the ICC Rules of Arbitration.

Volcanic eruption delaying delivery of documents under ICC rules
Paris, 21 April 2010  The unprecedented situation resulting from the volcanic eruption has led to delays in the presentation of documents by beneficiaries and banks to nominated banks, issuing banks, guarantors and instructing parties, due to the inability of courier companies to deliver packages in accordance with their published schedules.

1.2m jobs to be lost to piracy
Brussels, 17 March 2010  A new study released today by the International Chamber of Commerce’s BASCAP (Business Action to Stop Counterfeiting and Piracy) initiative projects an alarming rise in piracy-driven job loss figures in Europe’s creative industries.

Incoterms® 2010: New edition of renowned trade rules now available to order
Paris, 29 June 2010   Continuing a long tradition of providing the global trading community with the most up-to-date trade tools, ICC is preparing to launch the Incoterms® 2010 rules. Today, ICC has announced it is now accepting preorders for the revised Incoterms rules, which will come into effect on 1 January 2011.

ICC webinar to explain new EU contract clauses for data transfers
Paris, 23 April 2010  The Standard Contractual Clauses (SCC) for global data transfers from data controllers in the European Union to data processors within and outside the 27-member group will be the subject of a webinar on 4 May presented by the ICC Task Force on Privacy and the Protection of Personal Data.

ICC releases guidelines on sanction clauses in trade related products
Paris, 26 March 2010  The ICC Banking Commission Task Force on Anti-Money Laundering today released guidelines on sanction clauses in trade related products, including letters of credit, documentary collections and guarantees.

Second advanced ICC Arbitration seminar in Spanish and Portuguese scheduled for June
Paris, 28 April 2010  The second advanced-level training in international commercial arbitration in Spanish and Portuguese will take place from 14 to 17 June at ICC headquarters in Paris.

World Chambers Federation schedules webinar on Certificates of Origin
Paris 3 March 2010  An introduction to Certificates of Origin (COs) will be the topic of the second in a series of webinars produced by the World Chambers Federation (WCF), with participants discussing topics that will include procedures for issuing COs, anti-fraud methods, and confidentiality issues.

ICC launches Incoterms® 2010 rules with major conference and accredited masterclasses in September in Paris
Paris, 20 July 2010   On 27-29 September, for a one-off launch conference and the first of ICC headquarters’ series of practical masterclasses on the Incoterms® 2010 rules, members of the Incoterms® Drafting Group will give a detailed public presentation of the new rules and demonstrate through case-studies the major changes and processes that users will need to know in their everyday practice.

"Making Arbitration Work" - a Banking and Finance Perspective
March 2010  The International Chamber of Commerce, International Court of Arbitration and the International Chamber of Commerce – Hong Kong, China jointly present an arbitration symposium with a specific focus on banking and finance which will be held in Hong Kong on 16 March 2010.

Dispute Resolution in M&A Transactions
May 2010  ICC International Court of Arbitration supports the conference on “Dispute Resolution in M&A Transactions, Tactics, Challenges, Defences”. It will be held in Warsaw, Poland, on 13-14 May 2010.

New rules for demand guarantees effective 1 July
Paris, 30 June 2010  Securing an array of international and domestic monetary and performance obligations, ICC's new Uniform Rules for Demand Guarantees enter into effect tomorrow.

March 2010  On 14-16 March 2010, San Francisco will host an ICC conference on “East Meets West: Evolving Issues in International Arbitration in the Asia-Pacific Region”.

ICC YAF event on States in London
May 2010  The ICC Young Arbitrators Forum will co-organise with Hogan Lovells International LLP a conference on "Arbitration Involving States or State Entities”. It will be held on 13 May 2010, 4:00pm, in London.

Prospects for strong trade recovery mixed, ICC report says
Paris, 22 April 2010  Prospects for a strong and lasting trade recovery are mixed, with access to affordable trade finance constrained, trade protectionism still a problem, and banks facing tougher capital requirements for their trade assets, a major new survey on trade finance by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) said today.

Paris, 15 March 2010  Business should work more closely with government to help shape a low-carbon future, United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Executive Secretary Yvo de Boer said during an online webinar organized by ICC.

New aid for drafting awards in ICC cases
February 2010  As part of its ongoing drive to improve efficiency, the ICC International Court of Arbitration has issued a checklist for drafting ICC arbitral awards. The two-page document may be a helpful memory jog for ICC arbitrators when preparing their awards for submission to the Court.

Paris, 7 April 2010  The tenth edition of ICC’s popular “Intellectual Property Roadmap for Business and Policy Makers” was released today, with updated information on all the major IP issues including patents, trademarks, copyright issues and discussions of less established areas such as the protection of databases and genetic resources.

ICC concerned trade finance may suffer due to proposed bank leverage rules
Paris, 4 May 2010   ICC has expressed concern that proposals to introduce a new framework to limit excessive leverage in the world’s banking system may have unintended, negative consequences on trade finance, and it urged the creation of a special trade finance working group to examine the problem.
