ICC/CCBI input
ICC/CCBI preliminary input on enhanced cooperation and IGF (.pdf - 5 pages) March 2006 The ICC/CCBI preliminary input on 'enhanced cooperation' and Internet Governance Forum (IGF) articulates global business' preliminary views on the concept of 'enhanced cooperation' expressed in the Tunis Agenda. See http://www.itu.int/wsis/documents/doc_multi.asp?lang=en&id=2267|0
The purpose of this input is to communicate the global business community's position that it does not support the establishment of a separate intergovernmental process on the concept of 'enhanced cooperation' expressed in the Tunis Agenda, but rather views the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) as the multistakeholder forum for discussion on these issues and the 'enhanced cooperation' amongst existing organizations addressing the Internet related issues as an outcome of the information and experience exchange that should occur at the IGF and through ongoing efforts amongst relevant organizations. This input also updates and reiterates CCBI/ICC views on the establishment of the IGF multistakeholder advisory group, and organization of the event in Athens [October 30-November 2 2006].
This input has been prepared to provide the global business priorities on these issues given the announcement on the IGF website at www.intgovforum.org, that Mr Desai, the UN secretary general's special advisor, is managing informal consultations on these issues and because many national governments and regional groups of governments are conducting discussions on these issues and developing their positions at this time.
