 About WCF:

The World Chambers Federation (WCF) is ICC's specialized division for its chamber of commerce members worldwide.

Since its creation in the early 1950's, the World Chambers Federation has served as the unique and only truly global forum where chamber leaders and senior executives can communicate with each other and collaborate on matters of mutual interest, whether solving problems or realizing opportunities.

Local, regional, national, bilateral and transnational chambers, public and private law chambers, from all parts of the world are involved in WCF activities and projects.

WCF projects focus on the exchange of best practice and experiences amongst chambers, the building of personal relationships, and exploring the development of new products/services for chambers at all level.

In addition to helping chambers find new ways to support member companies, WCF also assists chambers in improving their in areas of managerial, financial and operational performance.

More than ever before, chambers must work closely together to help their members take advantage of new market opportunities worldwide.

WCF not only helps individual chambers to become more productive, but also strengthens links between them.

WCF's role and responsibilities have been mapped out within its Bylaws.

These were first drafted by ICC's chamber members upon its foundation as the International Information Bureau of Chambers of Commerce (BIICC) in the 1950s. The name of the organization changed to World Chambers Federation (WCF) in 2001. The Bylaws were updated most recently in 2008.

WCF's mission is :

to promote and protect the concept of chambers of commerce as essential intermediaries between business and government, and between business and the general public;

to provide assistance in the establishment of chambers of commerce or the strengthening of existing chambers, especially in developing countries and emerging economies;

to encourage cooperation between chamber organizations throughout the world, so to extend the range and improve the effectiveness of the services that chambers provide;

to provide a forum where chamber leaders can communicate with each other and collaborate on matters of mutual interest, whether in solving problems or realizing opportunities;

to facilitate the role of chambers of commerce as local business support agencies;

to administer the ATA guarantee chain (according to Article 5);

to initiate and/or participate in any appropriate chamber-based international service chains;

to encourage chambers and their members to cooperate in activities of ICC.
